In March 2021, Hozan Canê was released from prison in Turkey after 2 years two years for being a ‘member of a terrorist organisation.’ When she was arrested, in the run up to the 2018 elections in Turkey, Hozan said, as so many artists have before her, “I am not a member of any organisation. I am merely an artist doing art.”
